2003-2023 She came to us as a used kitten - that s how the shelter described her. She had been adopted briefly once before but returned when her previous owner could no longer care for her. We never saw her as used; to us, she was simply waiting for the right family. From the moment she arrived, it felt like she had always belonged with us. We learned quickly that she was unlike any other cat: she was allergic to catnip, something we only discovered after removing it and seeing how much more comfortable she became. It was one of the many little mysteries she carried, each one making her feel even more special. She had a deep bond with the kids, and they with her. Their affection for each other was immediate and unwavering. She would curl up next to them, follow them from room to room, and sit quietly while they read or played. Her gentle presence became part of their daily lives, a source of quiet comfort and love. She loved sitting by the patio door, watching the birds and rabbits in the backyard like it was her own private nature show. And when she wasn t by the window, she was sometimes above us - perched on top of the kitchen cabinets, calmly observing everything like a wise guardian keeping watch over her domain. She never quite warmed up to the dog, but she did her best. There was a quiet truce between them, a kind of mutual tolerance that, in its own way, was a form of peace. She found her own corners of the house, her own routines, and always made it clear that she would share her space-but only on her terms. In the end, she passed away peacefully, resting on my daughter s lap-one final, tender moment that said everything about the bond they shared. It was incredibly hard to say goodbye. But we take comfort in knowing that she lived a long, happy life, filled with love, warmth, and a family that adored her. She may have started out as someone else s cat, but she became ours completely-and we will always be grateful for the years we had with her. We miss you, Ginny.

Mistigram: today we share Codefenix's #ANSIart memorial to beloved family pet Ginger, a "used kitten" who wound up spending two decades as part of the family. This piece was included in the cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

A yellow housecat in blue overalls (and whiskers) brandishes an oversized golden disc against an abstract curving purple background.

Mistigram: [profile] thegreenherring drew this #ANSIart tribute to the unnamed feline potagonist of Konami's 1988 arcade game #KittenKaboodle for our new cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

A housecat, totally consumed by its earth-moving efforts, obliviously kicks errant grains of litter out of its box.

Mistigram: happy #Caturday! This is another one of Lockja's weekly #ASCIIart celebrations of the feline, from the sacred to the profane. This piece, a species of summer trip to the beach, was included in the new #cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

A hunting-crazed domestic cat, eyes gleaming ferally, presents a deceased mouse dangling from their maw

Mistigram: here we are, #InternationalCatDay and ... I'm late for lunch! Fortunately, Mozz has packed along a little something extra to share. This #ASCIIart illustration was included in the new cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

A lumpy red potato-shaped cat squints guiltily while biting his lip in anticipation of some revolting transgression -- possibly having filled the screen with noxious flatulence. Beneath him, a speckled black logo reads Gritty Kitty.

Mistigram: searching his memory for celebrated cats of the early '90s, contemporary to the Golden Age of the underground computer artscene, Cthulu surfaced with this repulsive specimen. Joy! From the feverish mind of cancelled Spümcø animator #JohnK, it's Stimpson J. Cat from #RenAndStimpy, celebrating his favorite brand of cat litter #GrittyKitty! This #ANSIart screen was included in the new cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

A picture of a housecat is drawn in white against a black background using punctuation marks and slashes.

Mistigram: in unixlikes, the command 'cat' outputs the contents of a file to the screen. In this case the file was a (#PETSCII) #ASCIIart illustration of a cat, so the artist [profile] littlebitspace needed to 'cat cat'. This recursive piece was included in the new cat-themed MIST0725 artpack.

Two housecats with keen curiosity and perky whiskers, the nearer with grey fur, in front of one with a more orange colouration, crowd their faces out of the darkness into a grey viewing frame. They are named as Orion and Felix.

Mistigram: judging from their enthusiastic mustering, these bright-eyed characters, Nitron's buddies Orion and Felix, must have just heard their song being played on the wet food can opener. This #ANSIart group portrait was included in the new, cat-themed MIST0725 artpack collection.

framed in the darkness by small architectural elements, pieces of rooftops, walls, doorways and hedges are artfully arranged to depict what might be characterised as the skull of a town golem.

Mistigram: you may recall our sharing of [profile] littlebitspace's "Castle Kit" font a bit over a week ago. As it turns out, castles are not the only thing you can draw in #textmode with its collection of remapped #PETSCII glyphs, and I rather suspect that drawing a #skull is the artist's personal "Hello World" for any new creative environment. From the recent unthemed MIST0625 artpack collection, we give you: Castlehead.

A red-eyed white cat(girl) with bangs stares in surprise

Mistigram: this big-eyed #ANSIart feline is #Shampoo, a cursed Amazon, from a 1994 installment of Rumiko Takahashi's #Ranma 1/2 manga. It was drawn by Zeus II, apparently for use as a BBS logoff screen, and was included in last month's unthemed MIST0625 artpack collection. I hope you like cats, because there are a lot more on their way!
